Crash and Burn....and Find an Alternate Commute Route
As I was eating breakfast this morning, I flipped on the news and was surprised to find out that I would have to find an alternate route into Chicago. Two freight trains collided early this morning near the border of Elgin and Bartlett. The crash caused a fire and there is possibly hazardous material involved too. The crash affected all of the Milwaukee District West Line trains into and out of Chicago. According to the news, all scheduled trains will be cancelled for the morning. There were two trains that were east of the crash and they will provide limited service between Bartlett and Chicago. This of course is subject to change but finding an alternate commute route into Chicago is highly recommended. I chose to drive to the Arlington Park train station and take the Union Pacific Northwest train line into Ogilvie Station. Be prepared for some full trains this morning as other lines take on the extra commuters.
